The Bears’ Blog… February 21

I am so excited to share our ‘Principal’s Pick ~ Writers’ Wednesday’ winner for the month of February!  Congratulations to Nomindee in 4W for being the lucky winner of a Pine Street toque! Honorable mention goes out to Cooper & Presley in PALS, Piper & Anaiah in kindergarten, Sofia & Averey in grade one, Logan & Daniel in grade two, Mason in grade three, Amshu in grade four, Abigail & Harlow in grade five, and Cash & Kiera in grade six.  I'm so proud of the care that you put into your writing!  Well done!

Thank you as well to our grade four families for completing their incredibly valuable Accountability Pillar Surveys!  If you have not already done so you have until February 28.  If you need any help with this process please contact our office so we may assist you with having your voice heard.

This week I wanted to highlight and reflect upon a new initiative that two of our classrooms have taken on this year.  It is the Linking Generations Grandparent Program.  Pine Street Elementary has partnered with two seniors from our community who come to share their wisdom and experiences with students which results in an amazing community connection like no other.  The feedback from staff, students, and our senior volunteers has been extremely positive. Thank you to the Linking Generations organization for your contribution to making Pine Street an excellent place to be!

Finally, I would like to encourage all staff, students, and volunteers to wear pink on February 26, ‘Pink Shirt Day’, as this day is meant to remind us of the importance of demonstrating kindness, compassion, and empathy EVERYDAY when striving to be our most excellent selves.

Sharing About Caring & Citizenship

  • Sunday, February 23 at 2:15 p.m. is Pine Street Day at the Sherwood Park Crusaders hockey game.  The players came to hand out free admission tickets to students on Wednesday, February 19.  This is not a school field trip so all students who are attending will need to be accompanied by someone to supervise them. Please note, the time on the tickets is incorrect.  The game is at 2:15 p.m.
