The Bears' Blog January 31

The Bears’ Blog… January 31

As January comes to a close and we hit the halfway mark in the school year I thought it would be valuable to reflect upon our year thus far.  There are so many things to celebrate it would be impossible to list everything, but it is important to highlight some so that we may realize the benefits of the hard work and effort put in by students, families, and staff as we work together to contribute to the learning and growth of all students.

Our Pine Street School Council and Pine Street Volunteer Parent Society has continued to support students, families, & staff through initiatives such as Helping Hands, the Meet the Staff Night/ Welcome Back BBQ, Family Dance & Movie nights, Art Cards, Hot Lunch, Yearbook, the Christmas Concert Raffle, & the Bottle Drive this weekend.  The list goes on and on!

Our students continue to demonstrate amazing citizenship through our Student Council initiatives such as theme days, shoveling snow for our neighbours in the surrounding community, teaching each other about water conservation and how to be environmentally friendly and collecting donations for the Strathcona Christmas Bureau, just to name a few.

Our staff continues to diligently work to support and challenge our students as they strive to improve and meet educational goals.  The collaborative team approach that takes endless hours of reflection and discussion as they strive to ensure they are delivering the most excellent educational opportunities to all of our students is awe-inspiring.

Everyday I see our Pine Street family collectively contributing to the amazing place that is our school.  From grade 4 recyclers, to visits from Elder Wilson, to our Linking Generations seniors, to our volunteers continued commitment to the Wee Read program... I am humbled to be a part of a school community that is so committed to our children.  I feel great comfort & optimism knowing that, regardless of what the future holds, we will be walking that road together with our shared goal of doing our very best for our precious children.

I love the Bear's Blog! It is an excellent way to get a snapshot of what is going on at the school. I especially love the Action, Opportunity, and Information section. Way to go Pine Street! Keep up the good work.
