The Bears' Blog February 5

Superintendent’s Update:  Top of mind

I have included a link to Superintendent Liguori’s blog entry that was highlighted on our school and district websites because it speaks to the challenges that we have had this year as a school division and what we are anticipating moving forward.  As we, as a school community, continue to have conversations about the 2020-21 school year it is vital that we separate the ‘nice to haves’ and the ‘need to haves’. This will allow us to maintain our focus on what is most important to us as we strive to maximize the impact of our limited time, resources, and finances.  With these areas likely having greater demands it is reasonable to expect reductions of ‘nice to haves’ such as dances, movie nights, bottle drives, meet the staff night, math night, parent engagement night, etc. so that we can concentrate all our efforts on student success.  By focusing on teaching and learning I am confident that we will collectively be able to continue to offer excellent educational opportunities for our students.

Thank you to all of our Pine Street partners who contributed their recyclables to help us raise $630 for our school!  This is just one example of why Pine Street Elementary is an excellent place to be.

I encourage you to come visit our front foyer as there is much work going into our school wide Family Day initiatives.  Thank you to Ms. Stevens and Mrs. Rosko who generously spent much of their weekend creating the beautiful, wall tree for every staff and student to put their ‘hand leaves’ on.  Each leaf represents what family means to that individual. It is beautiful to recognize the diversity of our families and the love we feel being a part of not only our ‘home family’ but our ‘Pine Street family’ as well.  I am very excited to hear more from our students at the Family Day assembly on Thursday, February 13.

Enjoy your extra long weekend everyone & be sure to hug someone you love!
