Kindergarten Sessions

Upcoming kindergarten family sessions

The EIPS Early Learning team has planned several sessions for current kindergarten families to help children build on the skills they’re learning in our kindergarten classrooms and offer some fun activities you can participate in with your child.

We invite you to join us for any or all upcoming sessions that fit your schedule in January through March. Many sessions have both a daytime and evening option. Some sessions are designed for parents/caregivers while others are designed for kindergarteners to join in as well! Sessions will generally take place via Microsoft Teams or Zoom, and the links to join will be sent directly to all registered families prior to the session date.

Speech-Sound Development and Strategies Audience: Parents/Caregivers Date: Thursday, January 20, 1-2 p.m. OR 6:30-7:30 p.m. Register

Does your child have some speech-sound errors that impact how well they’re understood? Developing clear speech, for some children, is a gradual process. As children's speech develops, the number and types of errors they make changes. Many parents have questions about their child's speech-sound errors and what they can do to support the development of clear speech. This interactive online session, hosted by EIPS speech-language pathologists, will review what typical speech-sound development looks like and how to incorporate helpful strategies throughout your child’s day.

Movin’ and Groovin’

Audience: Parents/Caregivers and kindergarten students

Date: Tuesday, January 25, 1-1:45 p.m. OR

Wednesday, January 26, 6:30-7:15 p.m. Register

Movin' and Groovin': Ways to stay active and regulated during cold weather months!

Join an Occupational Therapist to discuss activity ideas with your child when the weather is too cold for many outdoor activities.

Fine Motor Development in Young Children

Audience: Parents/Caregivers

Date: Wednesday, February 16, 6:30-7:30 p.m. OR

Thursday, February 17, 1-2 p.m. Register

Join an Occupational Therapist to learn about fine motor-hand strength, dexterity and grasp, and scissor skills. We’ll share information beforehand for parents to review at a time convenient for them. Those who’re unable to attend are still encouraged to register to receive access to handouts and resources available.

Developing Drawing and Printing Skills Audience: Parents/Caregivers Date: Wednesday, March 16, 6:30-7:30 p.m. OR

Thursday, March 17, 1-2 p.m. Register

Join an Occupational Therapist to learn how to encourage and develop drawing skills and when and how to work on printing skills. Those who’re unable to attend are still encouraged to register to receive access to handouts and resources available.

Social Communication

Audience: Parents/Caregivers and kindergarten students

Date: Wednesday, March 23, 1-1:45 p.m. OR

Thursday, March 24, 6:30-7:15 p.m. Register

What is social communication and why is it important? Come and learn about typical social development and how to embed vocabulary into your everyday activities that supports social learning. This session will help you to encourage your preschooler to grow socially and will cover some of the social vocabulary often used in both pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classrooms.
